Gilchrist Kids is appropriate for any infant, child, teen or young adult diagnosed with a terminal illness whose life expectancy if measured in months rather than years, if the disease or condition runs its normal course, and who is interested in comfort-oriented care. Gilchrist Kids patients may continue to receive advanced, life-sustaining treatments (ventilator support, chemotherapy, etc.) while on hospice.

Gilchrist Kids’ care is provided to infants, children and young adults with: 

  • cancer
  • untreatable infectious disease or blood disorders
  • life-limiting genetic or congenital diseases or conditions
  • cardiac disease
  • respiratory insufficiency
  • progressive neurologic disease
  • life-threatening injury
  • disease affecting multiple body systems
  • and other life-limiting illnesses

caregivers, families and physicians
